Called when others
couldn't deliver.

Collapsed bridges. 300-tonne load tests. Wind turbine interiors. Red Bull events in open water. Night operations. XFLIGHT shows up where others won't — and delivers what others can't.

Structural Load Test

April 2025 · Bad Schandau Bridge, Saxony

300 tonnes of load. 800 data points. Centimetre precision — guided entirely by our drone feed.
📷 Drone footage · April 2025

300 tonnes of load. 800 data points. Centimetre precision — guided entirely by our drone feed.

When structural engineers needed to remotely control an 80-tonne SPMT (Self-Propelled Modular Transporter) across the Bad Schandau Bridge under up to 300 tonnes of test load, XFLIGHT provided the only viable solution: a stable, real-time aerial feed that replaced every operator's line of sight. Over 800 discrete measurement points had to be approached with centimetre-level accuracy — machine movements called exclusively from our drone footage. For up to 45 minutes at a stretch, our drones held position in strong crosswinds and the unpredictable turbulence generated beneath the bridge deck, delivering an uninterrupted HD stream throughout. The measurement campaign was scheduled for approximately 36 hours over three days. We delivered it in two.

Constraint: Machine operators had zero direct line of sight to the SPMT — our live feed was the only navigation reference.

  • 80-tonne SPMT navigated to 800+ measurement points with centimetre accuracy — guided exclusively by drone feed
  • Up to 300 tonnes of test load applied at precisely defined bridge locations
  • Continuous flight endurance of up to 45 minutes in strong winds and structural turbulence beneath the bridge
  • Uninterrupted HD real-time transmission across the full campaign — zero signal loss
  • 36-hour test programme completed in 2 days — one full day ahead of schedule

Extreme Sports Production

June 2024 · Steinberg am See, Bavaria

Soaked. Still flying. Closer than anyone else would dare.

The Red Bull Wakeboard event at Steinberg am See was meant to be a production job. It turned into an unplanned endurance test of everything our drones are built for. Flying within centimetres of world-class pro wakeboarders mid-trick, our aircraft flew straight through the walls of spray thrown off every wake crossing — and were completely drenched. They kept flying. Not once did a system fail. With frame rates exceeding 120 fps, we captured trick sequences that standard broadcast cameras simply cannot freeze: every rotation, every grab, every water explosion rendered frame-perfect. No boarder was touched. Every shot was delivered.

Constraint: Proximity to athletes required absolute flight precision at all times — millimetre margins, zero tolerance for pilot error.

  • Drones operated fully saturated in wake spray throughout the event — zero system failure or signal loss
  • Approach to within centimetres of pro athletes during active trick sequences — no contact in any run
  • 120+ fps high-speed capture revealing trick details invisible to standard broadcast cameras
  • Waterproofing validated under real competition conditions — not a lab test, a Red Bull event
  • Footage delivered: dynamic, close-range perspectives no conventional camera rig could achieve

Wind Turbine Inspection

October – November 2021 · Haltern near Dortmund

First-ever FPV inspection inside a wind turbine tower.
📷 Drone footage · October – November 2021

First-ever FPV inspection inside a wind turbine tower.

Following the collapse of a newly erected wind turbine, XFLIGHT was contracted to inspect a series of structurally identical turbines — both inside the tower and on the exterior. Flying inside a wind turbine was an industry first. We had two weeks to design, build, and deploy the complete inspection system from scratch.

Constraint: No off-the-shelf solution existed for interior tower inspection.

  • 50 m CAT5 range extender for video and control signals inside the steel tower
  • 3× custom 5" FPV drones with propeller guards, protective cage, and ultra-bright LEDs for the dark interior
  • 2× custom 7" long-range FPV drones for exterior inspection in strong wind — within centimetres of the structure
  • Ultra-bright monitor on-site: assessors identified cracks in live HD, directed pilots in real time, and reviewed findings later in 4K
  • Full feasibility study completed before contract award

Night Operation

September 2021 · Wehr Bridge, Neckarsulm

Load test. Night. No margin for error.

When structural engineers needed airborne documentation of the official load test on the Wehr Bridge in Neckarsulm, they called XFLIGHT. Full night operation — precise, quiet, zero tolerance for failure. Our FPV drones captured every phase of the test, giving the assessment team a live aerial perspective that no conventional approach could provide.

Constraint: Full night operation with active traffic management below.

  • Complete airborne coverage of the official structural load test
  • Night flight with precise positioning in low-visibility conditions
  • Live feed delivered directly to the engineering assessment team

Emergency Bridge Inspection

June 2021 · Salzbachtal Bridge, Wiesbaden

The bridge that collapsed — and the drones that held the operation together.

After the sudden structural failure of the Salzbachtal Bridge in Wiesbaden, authorities needed eyes on every corner of the structure. Other drone operators had already failed the job. XFLIGHT was recommended. For two full months, our custom FPV drones provided the only reliable view of the damage — delivering live HD feeds directly to structural engineers, construction managers, and machine operators coordinating the work in real time.

Constraint: No person or vehicle allowed within 60 metres of the structure.

  • Live HD transmission to engineers and site managers on the ground
  • Continuous operation through heavy rain, storms, concrete debris and rubble
  • Flights inside the tightest structural spaces — where no other platform could go
  • Self-built drones that stayed in the air when nothing else would
